SERVICE U S US PERSONAL USE FIREWOOD Kootenai National Forest, Libby Ranger District The Libby Ranger District has firewood decks located in 3 areas that are available to the public to cut for personal use with a valid firewood permit. Tamarack Creek Decks are located up Tamarack Creek near Calx Mountain in T28N, R27W, Sections 1, 6, and 32. These decks are accessed along FS roads 2346, 2346F, and 2346H. Firewood material is leftover from the Tamarack fire salvage in multiple large decks. Decked wood has dried. Doak Creek 2-3 small decks are located up Doak Creek near the Blue Mountain Repeater in T32N, R30W Sec. 32. The decks are accessed along FS Road 755. This firewood was more recently decked may still be green Blue/Rice decked firewood material is located 2 V2 miles up the Blue/Rice Road in T 32N, R31W Sec. 14, 23. This deck is accessed along FS Road 615. Interested parties may obtain a map of deck locations from the Libby Ranger District, 12557 Hwy 37, Libby, MT 406-293-7773.
